You have 12 teams in the Big 12.  Cut out the "preseason" games, play each other in the season head to head.  The best 2 teams play at the end to decide the conference.  In the case of a tie most points scored  overall wins.

Let the Big 12 solve it alone.  To hell with the ratrings.
